🏅 ggArena: Running Tournaments in ggLeap
The ggArena section of ggLeap allows you to run in-center or online tournaments directly from the ggLeap admin panel — no third-party tools required! 🎮
This guide walks you through how to create, manage, and share tournaments using the built-in ggLeap Tournament Hub.
🧭 Accessing ggArena
Log in to the ggLeap Admin Panel.
Scroll down the left sidebar.
Click Tournaments (look for the medal 🥇 icon under “Events”).
When first opened, you’ll see an option to start a new tournament.
After creating one, the Tournaments list will show all active and past events your center has hosted.
🏗️ Creating a New Tournament
To start a tournament, you’ll define the format, participant method, and basic settings.
⚙️ Tournament Formats
Format | Description |
|---|---|
Single Elimination | Players are out after one loss. Simple and fast. |
Single Elimination (with Consolation) | Losers get a second chance in a consolation bracket. |
Double Elimination | Players drop to a lower bracket after one loss — eliminated after two. |
Round Robin | Everyone plays everyone; standings are based on total wins. |
Leaderboard | Points-based competition. Players earn and rank by points over time. |
🧩 Seeding Methods
Type | Description |
|---|---|
Advantage | Higher-ranked (“seeded”) players face lower-ranked opponents first. |
Equitable | Balances difficulty by favoring lower-ranked seeds early on. |
Shuffle | Randomizes all participant placement. |
📝 Round Robin and Leaderboard tournaments don’t use seeding since rankings are determined during play.
✍️ Participant Options
You can either:
Add participants manually, or
Allow sign-ups (recommended for most cases).
If you enable Accept sign-ups, players can link their ggLeap Tournament Hub accounts and have their results recorded automatically.
🌍 Locations
Specify physical or virtual match locations if you’d like ggLeap to auto-assign them as the event progresses.
Manual location management will be added in a future release.
🔗 Managing Sign-Ups
When Accept sign-ups is checked, you’ll get a QR code and shareable link for players to register.
Participants signing in with their ggLeap Tournament Hub account automatically sync results and rankings.
You can also manually add anonymous players or teams.
👥 Team Tournaments
Toggle “Team sign-ups only” to require all entrants to register as part of a team rather than as individuals.
🚀 Starting the Tournament
When your participants are ready:
Confirm seeding order (if applicable).
Click Start Tournament to lock sign-ups and generate the bracket.
The platform automatically creates matchups based on your selected format and seeding rules.
🏁 Running the Tournament
As matches are played:
Admins can record scores and declare winners.
ggLeap will auto-advance brackets and suggest match order to keep things moving smoothly.
Results update in real time on the tournament view.
You can also:
Undo an accidental win declaration (appears in history and announcements).
View live brackets and match lists side-by-side.
📺 Sharing the Tournament
Press Share in the top-right corner to generate a read-only live view.
This link can be:
Displayed on a TV or projector in your venue 🖥️
Shared with participants or spectators to follow along on their phones 📱
The shared view updates live as results are entered.
🏆 Viewing Rankings & History
Click View Details from the main tournament list to:
See live rankings and final placements
View tournament history, metadata, and participant profiles
Players who used a Tournament Hub account will have their results reflected in their profile history.
♻️ Revisiting Completed Tournaments
Completed tournaments remain accessible:
From the Tournaments list in ggLeap, or
From each player’s Tournament Hub profile, showing their rankings and participation history.
You can even reopen the read-only live link anytime to display past results.
